The University of Akron College of Engineering Alumni Association honored Mr. Jones at a banquet on April 13, 2011 as their newest Distinguished Engineering Alumni. Mr. Jones graduated from the College in 1972 cum laude.
The University’s College of Engineering was founded in 1913. Since that time, it has graduated over 10,000 engineers.
Mr. Jones is the 50th graduate to be recognized as a Distinguished Engineering Alumni.
On the day of the award banquet, the Dean of the College invited Mr. Jones to speak to the senior class about what they could expect as graduate engineers venturing out into the world in June.
He offered suggestions and insight to them based on his 39 years of engineering practice.
